Red Cross of Collier County provides emergency support for victims of disasters like fire, flood and hurricanes. While Red Cross receives international attention when responding to major disasters like the recent earthquakes in Haiti and Peru, we know that it is the local community response teams that are the unsung heroes.
Situation- Red Cross of Collier County had been outsourcing their annual giving campaign for five years and felt that the look had become stale and needed a fresh style.
- They felt that many of their donors did not understand the importance of the work that Red Cross does locally. They wanted to educate their constituents of the need to support their local chapter and not just give when there are high-profile, national or international disasters.
- They had been relying on their previous service provider to keep track of gifts for the last five years. When they severed that relationship, they were provided with an excel spreadsheet of their donor database, but virtually none of their giving history had been maintained. They needed a database management solution that they could install and manage in-house.
- We created an Annual Giving and Communications Campaign strategy of sending two informative newsletters and four appeal letters to their donor database. ISF Group created a bold new design and conducted the research and interviews for meaningful newsletter articles.
- Our next project was to redesign their donor communications. We gave them a fresh, new look but more importantly, we refocused the content of their newsletters to be mission oriented and educational. We wanted donors to share in the success stories of women who escaped abusive relationships and to learn more about the issues of domestic and sexual violence.
- We introduced them to two cost effective donor database software solutions, e-Tapestry and GiftWorks. After careful evaluation, they selected GiftWorks as an easy to use, in-house solution. They are now maintaining their own donor and prospect database and we are able to personalize messages to their current donors, lapsed donors and volunteers, enabling more effective communications and appeals.
