Animal Coalition of Tampa (ACT) works tirelessly to end the killing of healthy, adoptable dogs and cats in the Tampa Bay area. Since 2006, ACT has facilitated over 49,000 pet sterilizations and estimates that more than 46,000 fewer animals have been put down in Hillsborough County shelters since they began their work.

ACT operates a thriving free and low-cost veterinary clinic and has introduced a Trap-Neuter-Release program called Project SpayDay that performs feral cat sterilizations on the second Sunday of every month.

• ACT has been growing in leaps and bounds and needs new fundraising programs to help fund their expanded services. The disbandment of a county program that provided funding for low income families to have pets spayed or neutered created a huge decrease in funds they had been relying on. Without this government funding, ACT needed to develop a new source of income as quickly as possible.


• Direct mail that had been done in the past was inconsistent and done by staff and volunteers. A fairly large database of supporters existed, but information about their giving history or relationship with ACT was not well recorded.

• ISF Group designed an appeal program that would be mailed to ACT’s list of supporters and to a list of animal lovers in Tampa who are identified as supporters of animal welfare causes. The first mailing included an Impact Piece to educate recipients of work that ACT is doing to end the killing of animals in Hillsborough County and the success they are having.


• The second mailing was focused on driving attendance to ACT’s largest annual fundraiser – their Stride for Strays 3K walk. ISF Group designed and mailed Save the Date and Register Now postcards. The Register Now postcard was also designed as a piece that could be handed out and stuffed in shopping bags at PetCo, the presenting sponsor for the Stride for Strays event. Working with the Tampa Tribune, another event sponsor, ISF Group designed ads for the newspaper to help drive awareness and attendance.


• In addition to the mail and ad campaign, ISF Group also developed the registration site for the Stride for Strays walk using Donor Drive, a web-based software program that lets individual’s register, form teams and set up personalized web pages to promote their participation in the walk and raise funds.
